Abstract The thermal equation of state (TEOS) for solids is a mathematic model among pressure, temperature and density, essential geophysical, geochemical, other high pressure–temperature (high P–T) researches. However, in the last few decades, there has been growing concern about accuracy pressure scales calibrants, efforts have made to improve it by either introducing reference standard or building new models. existing state, P ( V , T ) = 0 + th ), consists an isothermal compression isochoric heating, while change heating. In this paper, we demonstrate that, soft medium diamond anvil cell, can neither be determined from single heating process, nor its calibrant. To avoid propose replace with well-known expansion model, integrate yields Birch–Murnaghan-expansion TEOS called VPT TEOS. predicted MgO Au at ambient matches experimental zero (0) GPa very well, prediction approximated Anderson PVT exhibit big deviation wrong trend.
